New York-style. Montreal-style. Jersey-style. Here on the West Coast, many of us think of “bagel” as a single variety—but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Bend may not scream “bagel capital,” but we’re seeing more specialty bagel spots pop up across the region.
From stacked breakfast sandwiches on housemade bagels to distinctive varieties (like what, or who, is a Seth Rogen?), these spots offer some of Bend’s best bagels and bagel sandwiches.
1. Bo’s
It’s not to say that Bo’s happened by accident, but what was once esteemed for its falafel (and still is) might now be best known for its no-hole bagels. On weekends past, Bo’s experimented with bagel-making. They served very limited quantities to the public and often sold out within minutes.
Now, Bo’s serves bagels and breakfast five days a week. The popular rosemary honey salty bagel likely tops their charts—and our list of favorites. Go classic with an egg and cheese plus your choice of bacon or sausage. But, you’ll be missing out if you don’t try one of Bo’s memorably-named (and filled) bagel sandwiches.

The “Gouda” layers melted Gouda cheese, maple bacon, grilled tomatoes, shaved red onion, and arugula with a fried egg on your choice of bagel. Meanwhile, the “Brie & Apple” pairs melted brie, apple compote, shaved red onion, and arugula over the bagel of your choosing.
It’s worth noting that Bo’s caters to the gluten-free crowd. It offers loaded hashbrowns plates topped with all of the classic Bo’s fixings. Bagels and breakfast are served Wednesday through Sunday from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.
2. Mimi’s Bagel Deli
What started as an elusive bagel cart parked outside various dispensaries now resides permanently along North 3rd Street. Offering hand-rolled, New Jersey-style bagels, Mimi’s has earned the loyalty of many East Coast bagel fanatics. It has also popularized terminology like “SPK” and “pork roll” to Pacific Northwesterners.

With over a dozen bagel varieties, Mimi’s serves bagel breakfast sandwiches even the most stringent New Yorker would approve of. Build your own breakfast sandwich with stacks like meat, egg, and cheese. Alternatively, opt for one of their specials like the Super Nova lox bagel.
Of course, Mimi’s offers bagel fillings that range from avocado, hashbrowns, bacon, beyond sausage, and cream cheese. However, if you want to get an OG Mimi’s bagel, get yourself a pork roll, egg, and American cheese served SPK—salt, pepper, and ketchup. It’s a New Jersey institution. Visit Mimi’s Thursday through Sunday from 7 a.m. til noon.
3. 5th Street Bagels
Sourdough bagel fanatics, this one’s for you! 5th Street Bagels originated in the Bodega market adjacent to Bar Rio. Initially in Downtown Bend, they now call Ponch’s Place “home.” Choose from a wide variety of flavors like blueberry, za’atar, chipotle poppyseed, and salted original before selecting your bagel dressings.

You can always go for the classic bagel-and-cream-cheese with choices of flavored or original shmear, or go for one of their sandwiches. Options include breakfast sandwiches with meat and folded eggs, lunchtime favorites like the BLTC (yep, that stands for cream cheese!), or lox and capers with finely sliced red onion and shmear.
Not only does 5th Street Bagels handmake their bagels using the owner’s familial sourdough starter, but they start serving bagels and breakfast at 6:30 a.m. for you early risers. Find them in the outdoor food court at the Veterinary Referral Center of Central Oregon between Boyd Acres and Butler Market.
4. Haven Bagel
What started as an online shop now lives in a brick and mortar space at Reed South in Bend. Founded by Elijah and Antonia Myers, Haven began as a farmers market favorite. It has blossomed into a beloved local bakery and café. Their bagels are made from scratch daily using organic, non-GMO ingredients. This reflects their commitment to traditional baking methods and sustainable sourcing practices.
Bagel flavors are not your average picks—although you can still find classics on the menu. Haven makes bagels in varieties like parmesan, dheddar scallion, jalapeño swiss, and seasonal specials like cranberry orange. Offering gluten-free options, Haven caters to diverse dietary needs.
More importantly, Haven partners with local producers, such as Well Rooted Farms and Backporch Coffee Roasters. They deliver an authentic farm-to-table experience from local growers and producers. Haven is open daily from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., where guests can take their savory treats to go or enjoy inside the café.
5. Angeline’s Bakery
Angeline’s Bakery is a beloved destination for wholesome baked goods in downtown Sisters. The bakery is popular for its commitment to catering to diverse dietary needs. It offers a variety of bagel flavors, including all seed, cinnamon raisin, lemon pepper, and other classic faves.
Here’s what makes them so special: Angeline’s bagels are hand-rolled, boiled, and baked daily, never compromising on freshness. Customers can customize their bagels with a selection of spreads such as hummus, peanut butter, or vegan cream cheese. They can enjoy them as part of hearty sandwiches featuring fresh vegetables and flavorful condiments.

6. Big O Bagels
Undoubtedly, Big O Bagels is the OG bagel hub of Bend. In fact, it’s been a cornerstone of Central Oregon’s bagel scene since opening its first shop on Galveston Avenue in 1994. With a commitment to simplicity and quality, their bagels are crafted from just six ingredients: flour, water, salt, sugar, malt, and yeast.

What sets Big O apart is its extensive variety of bagel flavors. These range from classics like everything to options like bacon cheddar, sundried tomato, and rosemary. Big O offers an extensive menu for breakfast and lunch, including the popular “Eye Opener”—a combination of egg, cheese, and your choice of meat.
For a more indulgent option, the “Wenzel” adds cream cheese, avocado, tomato, and onions to the mix. With five locations across Bend and Redmond, Big O Bagels offers bagels from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. to suit your taste.
