Welcome, 2025! You might be apprehensive to proclaim that “it’s going to be our year”—and I can’t blame you! Still, we can celebrate the beginning of a new chapter. For many, this includes kicking off the New Year with Dry January.
If you’re new to the concept, here’s a little debrief: ‘Dry January’ is a month-long challenge to abstain from alcohol and embrace a healthier start to the year. Whether it’s for health benefits (like improved sleep and better focus) or simply to reset after the holidays, this movement has gained traction worldwide.
Here in Bend and Central Oregon, Dry January doesn’t mean compromising on flavor or fun. From inventive mocktails to low-ABV beverages (in case you’re testing the waters), local bars, restaurants, and cafes are stepping up with creative options to make your alcohol-free journey festive. What’s better, these non-alcoholic and alcohol-alternative drinks are around all year!
So, if you’re looking for a January as dry as the High Desert, dive into our guide to discover the best spots and cans to sip this January.

Mocktails in Bend and Central Oregon
The term ‘mocktails’ began to increase in popularity in January 2023, and hit its peak popularity in January of 2024. Evidently and anecdotally, the mocktail movement is becoming a lifestyle for many former cocktail-sippers.
This isn’t to say that people are foregoing alcohol consumption altogether. Instead, it shows that folks are increasingly open to mocktails and non-alcoholic alternatives in between drinks or even in lieu of them.

Here in Central Oregon, bars and restaurants have significantly stepped up their mocktail game. Mixologists now tap into their inner scientists to create fruity, floral, and herbaceous concoctions using botanical spirits and elixirs. These local bars are just a few spots where you can find libations sans alcohol.
The Dez
After hours, Palate Coffee’s space transforms into The Dez—an exclusively alcohol-free bar. Here, they take mocktails very seriously, with a menu that’ll impress even the most skeptical of patrons.

Upon entrance, The Dez feels like a modern speakeasy with its cozy lighting and corner nook seating. At the bar, you’ll find an array of non-alcoholic wines both sparkling and still. Enjoy sparkling Rosé (with liquid glitter) by the glass, or take a bottle of Saint Viviana Sauvignon Blanc for the table to enjoy alongside accoutrements and charcuterie.

Reach for the mocktail menu and you’ll find a N/A spin on classic cocktails like the Lovely Rita, Blue Guava Kava Colada, and Lively Lavender. Medicinal elixirs take mocktails to the next level with apothecary-style concoctions. Visit The Dez Wednesday through Saturday from 5 p.m. until close.
Wayfarer Club at SCP Hotel
Downtown Redmond was transformed with the arrival of the SCP Hotel, located at the revamped New Redmond Hotel. Later, the hotel took over neighboring spaces to build out a plant-forward restaurant and speakeasy-like bar, respectively.

Wayfarer Club, attached to the hotel’s lobby, combines historic charm with a touch of Central Oregon flare, wrapped up in this intimate yet rustic watering hole. Here, you can enjoy a housemade seasonal shrub to sip with friends or around the roaring fireplace.
Shrub drinks, or drinking vinegars, are a bubbly blend of tangy and sweet made with vinegar, sugar, and fruit or herbs. Popular in colonial America, they’ve made a modern comeback as a refreshing alcohol-free drink or a unique cocktail mixer, offering bold, bright flavors. Wayfarer Club opens daily at 3 p.m.
Hosmer Bar
If you’re seeking a night out in Midtown Bend, Hosmer Bar should be first on your list. While not exclusively alcohol-free, Hosmer Bar offers a mocktail-forward menu with spins on the classic Negroni, Bloody Marys, and various Sours.

Plus, you’ll find local favorite N/A beer NoMo from Crux and various Fre alcohol-removed wines. Hosmer Bar shares a space with Waypoint Hotel, including access to their many outdoor firepits which make a great spot for sipping your drink of choice.

See a cocktail you’d like to try as N/A? Just ask the bartender to swap the liquor with a selection of N/A spirits! Visit Hosmer Bar Wednesday through Saturday from 4 p.m. until closing.
Gigi’s Bend
On special weekends after hours, The Pantry café and bulk store transforms into Gigi’s, an Ayurvedic Elixir and Natural Wine Bar. A mostly mocktail-forward lounge, Gigi’s serves “purposeful libations” made without liquor, in addition to natural wine pours by the glass. By nature, natural wines have a lower ABV.

Ayurvedic elixirs come in two varieties—warming and cooling. Each style is intended to invoke its namesake influence on the mind and body, including a digestif effect for the warming drinks. These mocktails utilize non-alcoholic spirits and bitters, decaf espresso, and herbs for flavors and essences—among other ingredients.
Gigi’s is great for a gathering of friends curious about non-alcoholic elixirs, along with those interested in lower-ABV drinks. Visit Gigi’s at The Pantry on Newport Avenue in Bend for their pop-up bar events.

Family-Friendly & Alcohol-Free
Avoiding alcohol altogether at any gathering hub can be difficult. Luckily, these Central Oregon spots are always a safe space for those seeking an alcohol-free environment.
Redmond Food Park
Food cart lots are a Central Oregon institution; they offer the best of both worlds, with a variety of cuisines to choose from and indoor/outdoor seating options. Still, they’re often a hub for the occasional beer or cider drinker.

You’ll find games for people of all ages, ample seating, and an overall good time when you visit Redmond Food Park.
Humm Kombucha Taproom
Coming soon to Downtown Bend! Humm Kombucha opened the country’s first kombucha taproom in 2013, and they’re relocating to the heart of Bend. At Humm, friends can gather for a pint of your favorite flavor or kombucha tasting flight.

People of all ages are welcome at the taproom. It’s important to note that kombucha can contain trace amounts of alcohol. However, Humm’s kombucha contains “well below” 0.5% ABV, which is the threshold for a non-alcoholic drink.

Canned Drinks On-the-Go
Perhaps you want to enjoy some Dry January mocktails and drinks at home; there are ample options for canned beverages! While some dry drinks replace alcohol with CBD, others leverage herbs and aromatics to infuse non-alcoholic libations. Here’s a round-up of some local mocktails, CBD drinks, and non-alcoholic ciders available at Central Oregon markets.

Clever Margarita
Quite clever! The “Clever” line-up features premium non-alcoholic “cocktails” including margaritas, “G” and tonic, and mojito. Sweetened with stevia, this canned mocktail delivers a lime-infused beverage with no alcohol or CBD. Boosted with citrus peel and pink peppercorn, it has a bit of a kick. However, if you’re not a fan of stevia-sweetened drinks, this might not be the one for you.
