Funky Fauna Artisan Ales is coming to Bend! The microbrewery, known for its small-batch, fruit-infused farmhouse ales, has closed its taproom in Sisters. Further, the brewery has taken over the former Humm Kombucha Taproom on 2nd Street. Funky Fauna plans to open its new taproom in April 2025.

Funky Fauna has quickly gained a reputation for crafting one-of-a-kind ales that celebrate traditional brewing methods. Their signature approach involves fermenting beer in oak barrels with native wild yeast, resulting in complex and flavorful pours. Standouts include Strictly Fiction, a whiskey barrel-fermented Saison infused with nectarines, blackberries, and marionberries.

“This is a bit overwhelming for two people and 5,050 square feet of building,” said Funky Fauna’s owner, reflecting on the ambitious expansion. “But we’ve begun chipping away… Please, remember to support your favorite local businesses when you can; they need you. We need you!”

quote

I wanted to share more than where to eat, but what to eat. And not just what, but why? From where is the food resourced? Should it be paired with a beer, or a cocktail—and what kind? But most importantly, share the faces and tell the stories behind the people who make it all happen, showing support for small business in and around Bend.
